In 2019, Goff’s set a career high in passing attempts. Naturally, his numbers should’ve improved with more attempts, but they actually did the opposite.
Goff threw a career high 16 interceptions to only 22 touchdown passes, the lowest touchdown total since his rookie year. With approximately 40 more passing attempts than the year prior, Goff still didn’t accumulate as many passing yards.
It’s not like Goff didn’t have weapons last year, either. He just couldn’t rely on the running game as much as he did the past two seasons.
Goff certainly has potential to silence a lot of his critics this season, and he’ll have the weapons around him to do it. Even though the team lost Cooks, they’re still returning Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, and they used their second round pick on Florida wideout Van Jefferson to help mitigate the loss of Cooks.
If he’s taken strides in his development this offseason, we could see a major bounce back year for the Rams signal caller. If he doesn’t, then he won’t be much more than a solid streaming option in your fantasy league this season.
