Former NFL Player Throws Shade At Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

A lot of the success for the Dallas Cowboys this season will rest on the shoulders of quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott has vowed that he will play better in 2023 than he did in 2022, when he led the NFL with 15 interceptions despite playing in only 12 games.

When Prescott has been on the field, the Cowboys more often than not have found success. They are 61-36 when he started and have made the playoffs four times. His statistics, outside of the interceptions last season, are usually strong, too.

However, that is the problem that the Cowboys are facing. Is Prescott a good enough quarterback to help elevate the team beyond being a playoff team with good production? Can he be the kind of player that helps raise the level of the team to contender status?

In the opinion of former NFL player Emanuel Acho, the answer is no. In a recent episode of UNDISPUTED on FS1, Prescott was a topic of discussion after he landed at No. 9 on the quarterback rankings heading into the 2023 season.

Acho had a hot take on the situation. He believes that Prescott’s true impact is somewhere between the extremes that people believe him to be. However, reaching the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl is not possible with Prescott at the helm.

“Dak is good enough to get an MVP vote, win the division, have the best team in the NFC but Dak isn’t good enough to be the reason the Cowboys win a Super Bowl,” Acho said when asked if Prescott has what it takes to lead Dallas to a championship.

Prescott has certainly proven that he can produce at a high clip, making the Cowboys competitive on a weekly basis. However, elevating the team to that championship level isn’t something Acho believes to be possible.

His point has been proven as Prescott has routinely failed to win the big game. Last postseason was a prime example of that. You saw how high he could soar, throwing for four touchdowns while ripping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to shreds in a Wild Card game.

But, the lows weren’t far behind. He threw two more back-breaking interceptions against the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round the following week, ending the Cowboys’ season. Somewhere in the middle, in Acho’s opinion, is where Prescott truly lies.
