Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are set to open Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. After an offseason full of hype and massive expectations following the trade to acquire Rodgers, the Jets will have a massive test to open things up.
While the season is about to begin, Rodgers and the Jets have been focusing on some preseason drama quite a bit. All of the talk the last few days has been about the back-and-forth between New York Giants’ defensive lineman Jihad Ward and Rodgers.
There is nothing wrong with some back-and-forth in preseason action, but Week 1 is closing in quickly. One former NFL star, Keyshawn Johnson, issued a stern warning to Rodgers.
“Aaron Rodgers is paying attention to the wrong things instead of focusing on the Buffalo Bills.”
That concern is a very legitimate one, but the fact remains that Rodgers has been here and done this many times. He has never been too distracted by off-the-field or unimportant drama.
Despite the fact that Rodgers has been a pure professional for years, he has had a different approach this offseason. He has constantly talked about how much of a “dream” he feels he’s living with the Jets. It has been a very different approach than the “all-business” approach that he had with the Green Bay Packers.
Only time will tell how the Jets fare this season with Rodgers. Nothing can truly be judged or seen right now. We will know a lot more about this Jets’ team after their Monday Night Football bout with the Bills.
Expect to see Aaron Rodgers come out strong with a chip on his shoulder. He isn’t distracted by the situation, he is simply having fun with it. The concern is valid, but Rodgers will be just fine.
