One more prominent member of the Georgia Bulldogs football team has revealed his decision for the upcoming 2024 season. Defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse has officially announced his intention to return to school for another year.

Stackhouse, hailing from Stone Mountain, Georgia, finds himself with an additional year of eligibility granted due to the COVID-19-affected 2020 season. He opted to share this exciting news via his social media platforms.

Throughout the previous season, Stackhouse played a pivotal role as a defender for the Bulldogs. His contribution was evident as he started in all 14 games, earning recognition as an All-SEC defender. Stackhouse’s impressive statistics included 24 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks.

In an expression of his elation, Stackhouse remarked, “It’s so unreal right now and hard to explain with words. This is so exciting. I can look back at that and, you know, after my departure here from the University of Georgia, I can say I did that. Even if it never happens again.”

Georgia’s defensive line experienced a setback during the previous season, in part due to the need to replace several defensive linemen who declared for the NFL draft. Notably, the Bulldogs will bid farewell to Zion Logue and Tramel Walthour as they head to the NFL draft, while defensive tackle Warren Brinson’s future remains undecided.

On the bright side, the Bulldogs will welcome back Mykel Williams, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Christen Miller, and Jordan Hall to fortify their defensive line. Additionally, Georgia secured Xzavier McLeod from the transfer portal and inked five promising defensive linemen in the 2024 signing class.

Shifting focus to the defensive side of the game, the Georgia Bulldogs will be coping with the departure of three starters in the secondary as Kamari Lassiter, Tykee Smith, and Javon Bullard embark on their NFL journeys. The majority of the departures thus far have been concentrated on the offensive side of the ball.
