The New York Giants have been struggling thus far in the 2023 season. They have a 1-4 record and things aren’t going to be any easier in Week 6 as they head on the road to face off against the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills are coming into the game banged up. They lost stars in cornerback Tre’Davius White and linebacker Matt Milano to season-ending injuries the last two weeks. Buffalo is also returning to play this game after facing off with the Jacksonville Jaguars in London last week.

Alas, that is about all the advantages that the Giants have heading into the game. It will be difficult for them to even make the most of the undermanned defense as New York is going to be missing a ton of key players this weekend.

According to head coach Brian Daboll, via ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan on X, formerly known as Twitter, starting quarterback Daniel Jones will not be playing this weekend. He suffered a neck injury on a blindside hit against the Miami Dolphins last week, which forced him out of the game. Tyrod Taylor will be making the start in his place.

Taylor is going to be playing behind another makeshift offensive line. Star left tackle Andrew Thomas has been announced out for the fifth straight game because of a hamstring injury. Starting center, rookie John Michael Schmitz Jr. is out because of a shoulder injury.

Backup offensive lineman Matt Peart is also going to miss the game because of a shoulder injury. Pass rusher Azeez Ojulari will out as well because of an ankle injury, leaving the Giants without a key contributor against a high-powered Bills offense.

Injuries were the one thing that the Giants couldn’t afford as their depth was suspect coming into the season. We have seen just how ugly things could get as a result, given their record and lack of competitiveness in those games.

The only positive to come out of the news from Ranaan is that it sounds like running back Saquon Barkley has a chance to play for the first time since Week 2. The Giants’ star suffered an ankle sprain in the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals and hasn’t been able to play since.
