Packers Urged To Pursue Major AFC Offensive Star In Offseason

Tee Higgins, Green Bay Packers

It’s pretty clear that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is in need of some weapons, and Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey sees the perfect offseason target: Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Higgins is set to hit free agency this spring and will represent one of the top wide outs on the market, and the consensus has typically been that the Bengals will not be re-signing him.

The 2023 campaign has not been kind to Higgins, as injuries have limited him to just 10 games. Plus, when he has been on the field, he has not been great, logging 36 catches for 497 yards and four touchdowns.

However, we all know what Higgins can do when he is healthy.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by Cincinnati in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign, catching 67 passes for 908 yards and six scores. He followed that up by hauling in 74 receptions for 1,091 yards and six touchdowns during his sophomore season, and last year, Higgins snared 74 balls for 1,029 yards while reaching the end zone seven times.

Higgins has spent these last three seasons as the Bengals’ No. 2 receiver behind Ja’Marr Chase, so other than his rookie year, he has never gotten the chance to show he can be a No. 1 guy.

Maybe he could get that opportunity with the Packers?

While Green Bay does have a decent stable of young receivers, it seems pretty apparent that the club does not have a top-tier talent at the position right now. Higgins could step in and provide that for Love and Co.

Love has shown considerable progression in the second half of the season, and that is in spite of not having elite weaponry at his disposal.

The Packers were mentioned as a potential trade destination for Higgins earlier in the season, but the Bengals ultimately decided to hold on to Higgins. Taking that into consideration, Green Bay will almost certainly be endorsed as a free-agent landing spot for Higgins this coming offseason.

The Packers are 6-8 and will battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
