The Houston Texans are looking towards a promising future, with CJ Stroud as their quarterback and DeMeco Ryans as their head coach. Following a remarkable playoff run, their focus now shifts to bolstering the roster around their young signal-caller in order to sustain their success and become legitimate contenders.

One of the Texans’ primary needs in the upcoming offseason is strengthening their defense. In the 2023 season, they finished with a middling defensive rating, ranking 14th among all 32 NFL teams.

Enter Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who emerges as an intriguing option. Donald not only brings Super Bowl experience but also the wisdom of a seasoned veteran who could positively influence Stroud’s development.

The Bleacher Report NFL scouting department has identified Donald as one of the potential trade targets for the Texans. Other players on their radar include New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo and Philadelphia Eagles safety Kevin Byard.

The Texans, a youthful squad that exceeded expectations in 2023, could greatly benefit from the addition of veteran talent. While they made it to the divisional round with rookie QB Stroud, replicating that success will be challenging without reinforcements. Therefore, acquiring experienced players should elevate their chances of further success.

The Texans’ offseason plans and free agency decisions remain uncertain, but their recent accomplishments under Coach Ryans should make them an attractive destination for potential signings. With their current trajectory, a Super Bowl appearance seems plausible, serving as a persuasive factor as they rebuild during the offseason.

In addition to the need for veteran acquisitions, the Texans face a significant number of impending free agents, accounting for nearly half of their current roster. Among the 25 players entering free agency, notable names include Dalton Schultz, Devin Singletary, Denzel Perryman, Adrian Amos, Derek Barnett, and Ka’imi Fairbairn.

The Texans cannot retain all of these free agents, necessitating the search for replacements who align with their championship aspirations. Acquiring Aaron Donald is a compelling choice, and given their available budget, a trade for him appears feasible as they reshape their roster.
