Through the first two weeks of the 2023 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts were ecstatic with what they saw from rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. Unfortunately, early on in their Week 2 game, Richardson went down with a concussion. That made it two straight weeks with injuries to the young signal caller.

Gardner Minshew has stepped in and was able to lead the Colts to a massive win over the Baltimore Ravens in overtime last week. Some have suggested that the Colts could keep starting Minshew, but that is not the plan for Indianapolis.

Many fans are hoping to see Richardson return to the field in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams. It sounds like they may very well get their wish.

According to an injury update shared by Colts’ reporter Stephen Holder, Richardson was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. That bodes very well for him to pass concussion protocol and get back in time to start on Sunday.

So far this season, Richardson has shown enough to live up to the hype that he had throughout the 2023 NFL Draft process. Indianapolis took a gamble on him with the No. 4 overall pick. He has proven them right for their decision.

In the short period of time he has played as a rookie, Richardson has completed 63.8 percent of his pass attempts for 279 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He has also racked up 75 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

There is no question that the Colts have a potential superstar in the making in their rookie quarterback. Shane Steichen and company simply need the youngster to take care of himself better. Mobile quarterbacks have always had major risks of injury and Anthony Richardson needs to be much more careful moving forward.

Hopefully, the rest of the week will progress well and Richardson will get back out on the field for the Colts in Week 4 against the Rams.
