As it stands today, there’s only one team New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has defeated more than once: the Buffalo Bills. Come Sunday, the third-year quarterback has a chance to raise that low-hanging fruit, and move to 3-1 all-time against Buffalo.
It certainly won’t be an easy task. Buffalo enters with Super Bowl aspirations — what else is new in 2020? — and open as 6.5-point Vegas favorites. The last time they won an AFC East crown, the PlayStation 1 was the hottest gaming commodity. They’ll be expecting to quench the drought this season.
Sam Darnold has had some success against the Buffalo Bills. But the Bills didn’t have this Tre’Davious White in 2018. Tremaine Edmunds also wasn’t the force he is now. Darnold put his team in position to defeat those vaunted Bills in each of their games last season by simply limiting mistakes.
Darnold doesn’t need to come in and prologue an MVP campaign, but he does need a standout performance. And here are three reasons to buy into that hype.
