There are going to be a lot of eyes on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets this offseason. They were the talk of the football world after acquiring the future Hall of Famer in a trade with the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason.
Aaron Rodgers should help elevate what was an anemic offense during the 2022 season. Quarterback play was a big issue as Zach Wilson has shown no development after being picked No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Mike White had some flashes but his production fell off after an injury and Joe Flacco is well beyond his prime.
While Aaron Rodgers had a shaky 2022 season himself, even that level of production would have been a massive improvement for New York. If he can get anywhere close to his level of player from 2020 and 2021, when he won the MVP award, the Jets will be in business.
Heading into the season, there is certainly some motivation for Aaron Rodgers. The harsh criticism that Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton delivered toward the team certainly will be used as bulletin board material heading into their Week 5 matchup against each other.
As we’ve seen in the past, a motivated Aaron Rodgers is a dangerous player. There will also be some personal achievements that he will be motivated by.
If Aaron Rodgers can throw 25 or more touchdowns in the first 13 games of the season, he will surpass the record held by Peyton Manning for the fastest to 500 touchdowns in a career. Right now, he is sitting at 475 through 230 games with 223 starts.
A two-touchdown per game pace is something that Aaron Rodgers has accomplished multiple times previously in his career. He did it most recently during his two most recent MVP campaigns.
New York has the firepower to certainly help him get the job done. Garrett Wilson is an emerging star and he has excellent chemistry with Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb. Mecole Hardman and Corey Davis are strong complementary players as well, giving Aaron Rodgers a well-rounded group to get the ball to.
