Round 5 & 6: Bryce Hall and Braden Mann

To cap off their draft, the New York Jets selected a cornerback, and the most exciting position in football, a punter.

To put it simply, drafting a punter in almost any spot does not make any sense as they add so little value, but if you are going to draft one, you might as well draft one as good as Braden Mann.

Braden Mann played out his entire 4-year college career at college station with the Texas A&M Aggies, and while with the Aggies, Mann won the following awards: 2018 SEC Special Teams Player of the year, 2018 Unanimous All-American, 2018 and 2019 First Team All-SEC and was 2018 Ray Guy award winner.

Mann will likely be the starting punter for the New York Jets, and unless something drastic happens, he will be the punter for the foreseeable future

Heading into the 2018 draft, Bryce Hall very well could have been one of the first cornerbacks selected, however, Hall decided to go the other direction and to finish out his college career with Virginia, unfortunately for Hall, a poor 2019 college season, as well as an ankle injury caused Hall to fall on many teams draft boards.

Outside of his injury that somewhat derailed him, Hall is more than a quality cornerback. Hall is smart and understands leverage and is often able to box out wide receivers. Even if Hall does get boxed out by the receiver, his long arms which measured in at 32 1/4 inch arms, allow him to be a monster in both pass breakups, as well as press coverage.

While Hall does have high-quality coverage traits, he does have certain things that hold him back. To put it simply, Hall lacks deep speed. Hall will often get beat down the field by fast receivers, and often struggles at carrying his speed down the field when turning his hips.

Unlike his late-round contemporaries, Hall will be able to compete for a starting job at his position. Hall will likely be competing with the likes of Brian Poole and Pierre Desir for a starting cornerback job, and even if he doesn’t win the starting job, he will likely be the 3rd cornerback on the depth chart and will be featured in nickel formations. The only thing that will hold Hall back will be Halls current injury, but if he is able to stay healthy, I would expect Hall to be playing a good amount of snaps for the Jets
