Jason Kelce recently retired from the NFL after spending his entire career with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he has revealed that he came close to being a teammate of his brother Travis Kelce with the Kansas City Chiefs.

During a roundtable discussion on NFL Network, the older of the two Kelce brothers said that the Chiefs almost drafted him back in 2011, two years before they took Travis.

Kelce ended up going to the Eagles in the sixth round and proceeded to establish himself as one of the best centers to ever play the game during his 13-year run in Philadelphia.

Throughout that tenure, Kelce made seven trips to the Pro Bowl and earned six First-Team All-Pro selections. He also helped lead the Eagles to their first ever Super Bowl championship during the 2018-19 campaign and played in another Super Bowl against his brother’s Chiefs four years later.

Kelce actually seemed to get better as he aged, as he made five straight Pro Bowl appearances to end his career. He only made one Pro Bowl over his first five seasons, and all six of his First-Team All-Pro nods came from 2017 and onward.

But imagine if Kelce had been selected by Kansas City?

He would have been a part of a dynasty with his younger sibling, who was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Kelce would have been snapping the ball to one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game in Patrick Mahomes, and who knows? Perhaps Kelce would not have called it quits this offseason if he had the opportunity to compete for a three-peat in Kansas City.

Whatever the case may be, Jason Kelce was chosen by the Eagles, and that’s probably just how it was supposed to be.
