As we approach Week 3 of the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs were recently linked to star running back Derrick Henry.
The Chiefs were able to get their first win of the season in Week 2 in a close game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After the tough loss to the Detroit Lions to start the season, Kansas City bounced back and got a nice road win against a solid team in the Jaguars.
While the Chiefs were able to beat the Jaguars, their offense once again didn’t look up to normal Kansas City standards. The Chiefs were only able to muster 17 points in the win, and while they did move the ball well, they seem to be lacking a bit of a punch on offense.
Recently, Sportnaut.com spoke about some players that could be traded this season. On their list, they named Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans as a player who could be moved and linked him to the Chiefs.
Adding Henry to the Chiefs would be a big upgrade at the running back position. Henry has been one of the best running backs in the NFL for the last few seasons, and with the Titans struggling a bit, moving Henry could certainly be an option for them.
In 16 games last season, Henry totaled 1,538 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, and averaged 4.4 yards per carry. Even though Henry is approaching 30 years old, he is still a monster in the backfield and doesn’t appear to be slowing down yet.
While linking Henry to the Chiefs is hypothetical, it would add a much different dynamic to the Chiefs’ offense. With the team a bit weak at the wide receiver position, adding a player like Henry could result in the Chiefs being far more balanced on the offensive side of the ball. While having a great quarterback like Patrick Mahomes is always a plus, having a balanced offense would likely make his job even easier.
