Lamar Jackson expressed his enthusiasm for the Baltimore Ravens’ recent acquisition, ensuring that his excitement was evident during Wednesday’s remarks. The Ravens secured Malik Cunningham from the New England Patriots practice squad on Tuesday, reuniting the rookie with Jackson, his former teammate from their time together at Louisville.

In a recent quote, Jackson spoke out in a big way about the young quarterback who is now one of his backups.

“Great quarterback. I’ve seen it firsthand when he was a freshman at Louisville,” Jackson praised. “Explosive. Can throw the ball to anyone on the field. Make guys miss. He can do it all.”

Despite going undrafted, Cunningham caught the Patriots’ attention, impressing with a compelling performance during the preseason. Displaying a remarkable blend of mobility and speed, he provided a much-needed spark for the offense. Unfortunately, despite his preseason efforts, Cunningham never received a genuine opportunity with the Patriots, exacerbated by the ongoing quarterback controversy in New England.

Given the chance to reunite with a familiar face and join the active roster in Baltimore, Cunningham seized the opportunity. Jackson has consistently lauded Cunningham since his signing, and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, recognizing the rookie’s potential, decided to give him a chance.

Cunningham possesses a unique skill set that allows him to play at multiple positions, a point emphasized by Coach Harbaugh.

“He’s a very talented person, so he’ll contribute in every way he can, but we’ll stay with the four quarterbacks,” Harbaugh explained. “That’s the way we’ll do it, and he’ll contribute in a lot of different ways.”

While Cunningham may not see much playing time assuming Lamar Jackson remains healthy, the Ravens have made a valuable addition to their depth—a move endorsed by their star quarterback.
