Derek Carr Sets Single-Season Career-Highs
In two seasons with Jon Gruden, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has quietly had his two most efficient seasons in his career.
Carr has two 4,000-yard passing seasons, both coming under Gruden. In each, the seventh-year quarterback set career highs in completion percentages. At the same time is touchdown pass percentage rose above 4% in 2019 while his interception rates dropped below 2% for the second and third times in his career.
Many people around the Raiders have speculated in each of Gruden’s off-seasons Carr may be on his way out. Last year, rumors centered around the Raiders eyeing Kyler Murray.
Murray landed in Arizona, and Carr stayed in Oakland.
This off-season, the Raiders were tied early on to Tom Brady. Brady ended up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carr is in Las Vegas.
Many want to see Carr take a step towards returning to being a potential MVP caliber talent. Adding rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is designed to help with this.
Our first bold prediction here is that Carr will set career highs in yards and touchdowns surpassing 4,100-yards through the air and dropping 33 or more scoring tosses, in 2020.
