Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders may have saved their season on Monday night, beating the Green Bay Packers by a score of 17-13 and improving to 2-3 in the process.
Afterward, Crosby sung the praises of his team’s defense, stating that its improvement over the last couple of weeks is no fluke.
Combine that with the Packers win, and Las Vegas has now given up just 13 points over the last six quarters.
The Raiders rank 14th in the NFL in yards allowed and are just 21st in scoring defense, so their defense has hardly been great over the course of the entire season. However, there is no doubting that, as Crosby states, the club’s defense has shown significant improvement over the last couple of weeks.
Crosby himself has been the subject of trade speculation, as many have wondered if the Raiders will decide to blow it up between now and the Oct. 31 trade deadline. That being said, it seems hard to imagine that Las Vegas will move Crosby, who is under contract through 2026.
The 26-year-old added another sack to his resume on Monday evening, giving the two-time Pro Bowler five sacks on the year. He has also registered 28 tackles.
Crosby, who played his collegiate football at Eastern Michigan, was originally selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
It didn’t take Maxx Crosby long to make an impact, as he totaled 47 tackles, 10 sacks and four forced fumbles during his rookie campaign. After a relatively quiet year in 2020, Crosby went on to make back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances in 2021 and 2022.
Last season, the Colleyville, Tx. native racked up 89 tackles, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in what has been his most productive year to date.
The Raiders will look to continue improving when they host the New England Patriots next weekend.
