Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders won their second straight game this past Sunday, defeating the New England Patriots by a score of 21-17.
It marked the latest impressive effort for the Raiders’ defense, which has allowed just 30 points over the last 10 quarters.
Afterward, Crosby praised his defensive brethren during an on-field postgame interview with Tracy Wolfson of CBS.
“We’ve got a bunch of young, tough, hard-nosed, blue-collar ballers on this team,” Crosby said.
Crosby logged seven tackles, a half of a sack and a pass defended in the win. On the season overall, he has posted 35 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
The 26-year-old had been the subject of trade speculation earlier in the season, but now that Las Vegas has improved to 3-3 and has placed itself right in the thick of the AFC playoff picture, Crosby will almost certainly be staying put for now.
Crosby, who played his collegiate football at Eastern Michigan, was originally selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He enjoyed a spectacular rookie campaign, racking up 47 tackles, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles and four passes defended. He took a bit of a step back in 2020, finishing with 39 tackles, seven sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, but in 2021, Maxx Crosby earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl after registering 56 stops, eight sacks and seven passes defended.
The Colleyville, Tx. native proceeded to have his best season to date last year, recording 89 tackles, 22 tackles for loss (an NFL-best), 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four passes defended, making another Pro Bowl appearance in the process.
Las Vegas will have a great opportunity to move over the .500 mark when it takes on the struggling Chicago Bears next weekend.
