Raiders Mentioned As Potential Destination For Former 1,000-Yard WR

The Las Vegas Raiders have a terrific wide receiver duo in the form of Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, but beyond those two, the Raiders’ depth at the position is rather thin.

The good news is that Las Vegas is slated to have ample cap room entering free agency, so it could certainly afford to bolster its ranks at wide out.

Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department mentions Cincinnati Bengals veteran Tyler Boyd as a possibility, citing the fact that Boyd has taken on the role of slot specialist in the back half of his career.

A few years ago, the Raiders seemed to have a terrific slot receiver of their own in Hunter Renfrow, but his production has fallen off a cliff the last two seasons, and he will likely be released this offseason.

Ergo, Boyd could be a fine target.

The Bengals will probably have trouble keeping Boyd, as they are trying to re-sign Tee Higgins, and they also need to worry about paying Ja’Marr Chase in the future.

Boyd may very well end up being the odd man out in Cincinnati, leaving the door wide open for a team like Las Vegas to step in and snatch him.

Even while playing as the tertiary option behind Chase and Higgins, Boyd still managed to log 67 catches for 667 yards and a couple of touchdowns this past season.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh, was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Boyd posted back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2018 and 2019, topping out at 1,046 yards in the latter year. He hasn’t reached the 1,000-yard mark since, but he has tallied over 800 yards twice.

Is Boyd the same receiver he was five years ago? No, but he remains a dependable, durable option who would absolutely improve the Raiders’ aerial attack.
