Raiders Urged To Trade Davante Adams To Acquire Younger WR

The Las Vegas Raiders just acquired wide receiver Davante Adams two years ago, and he is under contract through 2026. So, you wouldn’t expect the Raiders to try and move him.

However, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox sees a scenario in which an Adams trade could end up paying dividends for Las Vegas.

Knox suggests that the Raiders trade Adams and then turn around and swing a deal for San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk in order to get younger.

Adams is now 31 years old, six years old than Aiyuk. Adams also appeared to show signs of a decline in 2022, catching 103 passes for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.

While those are still great numbers, they are a rather far cry from Adams’ previous three seasons, when he led the NFL in receiving touchdowns twice and racked up over 1,300 yards all three times. That included back-to-back 1,500-yard campaigns in 2021 and 2022.

As a matter of fact, 2023 represented the first instance that Adams did not make the Pro Bowl since 2016.

Taking those factors into consideration, it may be wise for the Raiders to jettison Adams in favor of a young, ascending wide out like Aiyuk, who just had a breakout season in which he hauled in 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven scores.

The question is, why would the 49ers trade Aiyuk?

Well, the 25-year-old is entering the final year of his deal, and based on recent comments he made, he doesn’t appear to have a whole lot of loyalty to San Francisco. He wants to get paid, and the Niners may not be able to afford to give him what he wants.

If that happens, the Raiders could certainly step in and try to pry him away from the 49ers.

We’ll see if Las Vegas places Davante Adams on the trade block this offseason.
