The Kansas City Chiefs are in need of some help at offensive tackle, and they could be turning to a former Green Bay Packers star for some assistance.

Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports names David Bakhtiari as a player the Chiefs could pursue to man their left tackle spot in 2024.

Bakhtiari was cut by the Packers earlier this offseason due to consistent injury issues.

The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Colorado, was selected by Green Bay in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He immediately became a starter for the Packers during his rookie campaign but didn’t begin receiving recognition as an elite offensive lineman until his fourth season, when he made his first Pro Bowl appearance.

From 2016 through 2020, Bakhtiari established himself as one of the best tackles in football, making three trips to the Pro Bowl, earning a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections and three Second-Team All-Pro nods during that span.

However, over the past three seasons, Bakhtiari has played in a grand total of 13 games, mainly due to knee issues. Eleven of those contests came in 2022. He participated in just one game this past season.

There is no doubt that Bakhtiari remains a force when healthy, but his inability to stay on the field forced the Packers’ hand into releasing him.

Currently, Wanya Morris is Kansas City’s No. 1 left tackle on the depth chart, but head coach Andy Reid has not committed to him as the starter.

We’ll see if the Chiefs try and take a swing on Bakhtiari, who remains unsigned.
