Rams’ Jimmy Garoppolo Doesn’t Hold Back On Sean McVay

Jimmy Garoppolo has found a new home with the Los Angeles Rams, and with head coach Sean McVay in tow, it seems like a great opportunity for Garoppolo to revitalize his career.

Garoppolo seems to understand this and is looking forward to working with McVay in 2024.

“Sean’s a phenomenal offensive mind, and a lot of the guys around here are, and I think that plays a big part in reinventing, whatever you want to call it, a quarterback, having good people around you,” Garoppolo said, via Kevin Patra of NFL media. “It’s not all going to be done by you. You got to have the people around you to put you in a good position, call the right plays, all those little things. And yeah, I saw this opportunity and I got excited. It just seemed right.”

Garoppolo was released by the Las Vegas Raiders last week after he was suspended two games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drugs policy in February. He signed a three-year, $72.5 million deal with the Raiders last offseason, but Las Vegas was able to void his contract as a result of the ban.

McVay is known as a quarterback whisperer by some, so if anyone is going to help get Garoppolo back on track, it’s probably McVay.

Garoppolo played in seven games and made six starts for the Raiders this past season, throwing for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 65.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 77.7. He was benched in favor of Aidan O’Connell midway through the year.

The 32-year-old will be backing up Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles, and given Stafford’s rather checkered injury history the last couple of years, he stands a decent chance of seeing the field next season.

We’ll see if Jimmy Garoppolo can use his time with the Rams as a springboard to a better future.
