While the Miami Dolphins are 4-1 and boast one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, they do have questions on the defensive side of the ball.
The Dolphins rank just 23rd in the league in defense, and if they seriously want to contend for a Super Bowl, that is an issue they probably need to address.
Fortunately, Miami has between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline to add some pieces.
Wyatt Allsup of ClutchPoints thinks the Dolphins should make a big splash by trading for Washington Commanders edge rusher Chase Young.
Since starting 2-0, the Commanders have lost three straight games, most recently suffering a 40-20 blowout loss at the hands of the previously winless Chicago Bears.
Young is slated to be a free agent come springtime, and all indications thus far are that Washington will not be retaining him.
The 24-year-old, was originally selected by Washington with the second overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he has not lived up to expectations.
While he had an impressive rookie campaign, registering 44 tackles, 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown, injuries and underwhelming performance in general have been the story for Young since 2021.
He tore his ACL nine games into his sophomore campaign, limiting him to just three games in 2022. Then, this season, Young was sidelined for the season opener due to a stinger he suffered in preseason.
Young has logged 11 tackles and three sacks in four games this year. He has amassed a grand total of just 4.5 sacks since 2021. The upside is there, but Young also comes with an injury risk.
Still, the Dolphins are trying to win a championship, so they can afford to gamble on a talent like Young.
Miami will aim to improve to 5-1 when it takes on the Carolina Panthers next Sunday.
