The Minnesota Vikings, positioned with the 11th overall pick in the upcoming April draft, are currently the frontrunners according to betting odds to select Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

DraftKings has them at +300, while FanDuel sets the odds at +450. Following closely behind are the Broncos, Raiders, and Seahawks, who hold picks in the 12-16 range and are also being considered potential landing spots for McCarthy.

Speculation has been rife lately regarding the Vikings potentially drafting McCarthy as their quarterback of the future. Should they opt not to trade up into the top three picks for prospects like Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, McCarthy could emerge as their top choice at No. 11.

While projected as the fourth quarterback to be selected this year, trailing Caleb Williams, Maye, and Daniels but ahead of Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix, McCarthy boasts considerable potential despite not being heavily utilized in Michigan’s run-focused offense. His arm strength, athleticism, and resilience are seen as significant assets.

The fit between McCarthy and the Vikings seems natural, as he appears to possess many of the qualities that head coach Kevin O’Connell seeks in his quarterbacks.

At just 21 years old, McCarthy could either learn behind a seasoned veteran in Minnesota or potentially compete for the starting role immediately. This scenario hinges on the increasing likelihood that Kirk Cousins may part ways with the Vikings next month.

Notably, the odds also suggest potential alternatives for the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback selection. FanDuel places the Vikings at +470 to pick Bo Nix (the second-lowest odds), while DraftKings sets the odds at +1600. Regarding Michael Penix Jr., FanDuel sets the odds at +480 and DraftKings at +650. Additionally, the odds stand at +1200 for selecting Jayden Daniels and +5000 for Caleb Williams, both on DraftKings.

Expect these odds to fluctuate significantly in the ten weeks leading up to the draft.
