The Kansas City Chiefs became the first team in 20 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. It was their third Super Bowl ring in five years, as Kansas City has turned into a modern-day dynasty.
With their two straight Super Bowl victories, the Chiefs are now in a position to do something that has never been done before; win three in a row. No one has had the back-to-back-to-back in NFL history, and it is going to be hard to get against them accomplishing it.
Despite some major obstacles to overcome in 2023, the Chiefs found a way to climb the mountaintop once again. Patrick Mahomes showed just how incredible he is, performing at a high level despite an underwhelming supporting cast.
The 2024 offseason will present some challenges to Kansas City, as important players are hitting the free agent market. There are some areas of need on the roster that need to be addressed as well.
NFL News & Rumors: Patrick Mahomes & Kansas City Chiefs Updates
Will the Chiefs be able to achieve everything on their to-do list? Several NFL experts certainly believe so. Over at ESPN, a group of 11 experts were asked questions. One of them was to pick their early favorites for Super Bowl 59. Five different people chose the Chiefs to win their third straight Super Bowl.
Matt Miller, Eric Moody, Jordan Reid, Lindsey Thiry and Field Yates all picked the Chiefs to win. Miller and Moody believe their victory will come over the Green Bay Packers, while Reid and Thiry believe it will be the Detroit Lions losing to Kansas City. Yates selected the Chiefs to defeat the Los Angeles Rams.
A common theme amongst all of the experts was not wanting to bet against Mahomes. The three-time Super Bowl MVP and two-time regular season MVP has accomplished more in six seasons than most quarterbacks do in their entire careers. Just entering the beginning of his prime, it would be a hard sell for anyone to pick against him and the Chiefs at this point.
