New Update Hints Further At Aaron Rodgers Leaving The Packers

Aaron Rodgers, Packers

There has been a lot of discussion about the future of Aaron Rodgers in the last few weeks. The future Hall of Famer is taking his time deciding what he wants to do. Retirement, returning to play for the Green Bay Packers or seeking a trade are all options on the table. However, it sounds like his decision could have been made for him.

According to Bob McGinn via JPA Football, it sounds as if Aaron Rodgers will be playing elsewhere in 2023 if he opts to play one more season. He is reporting that the Packers have all but moved on from Aaron Rodgers and are expressing confidence in Jordan Love.

This is certainly a shocking development if true. But, this could be the Packers looking to get out ahead of things and prepare themselves for the event that Aaron Rodgers asked for a trade himself.

The asking price from the Packers will be steep as they are reportedly seeking multiple first-round picks in exchange for Aaron Rodgers. In addition to that, his contract is very expensive as he is owed nearly $60 million.

Despite that, the market for him should be rather big. There are plenty of teams that are in the market for a veteran quarterback this offseason that would pony up the asking price.

One of the teams to keep an eye on would be the New York Jets. Jets’ owner Woody Johnson has already made it known that he is willing to pay whatever it will take to bring in an upgrade at the quarterback spot as he believes that is the missing piece for Gang Green to become contenders.

Another team to keep an eye on is the Las Vegas Raiders. There are certainly some concerns when it comes to personality fit between Aaron Rodgers and head coach Josh McDaniels, but teaming up with Davante Adams again would certainly be appealing.

Given the fact that both of those franchises are in the AFC, they could be considered the favorites to land Aaron Rodgers. The Packers aren’t going to trade him within the conference unless they are blown away by the proposal. This will be something to keep an eye on in the coming days and weeks as an Aaron Rodgers trade will change the landscape of the league as we know it.
