The Green Bay Packers are actively evaluating potential additions to their rosteras they prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft in 2024. Among the prospects catching their attention is Jermaine Burton, who recently visited the team as part of their top-30 visits. It would provide young franchise quarterback Jordan Love with yet another weapon to work with.
A screenshot shared by Wyatt Fulton from Tide 100.9 revealed Burton’s presence in Green Bay, indicating a potential meeting with the Packers.
Burton, a former Alabama Crimson Tide player, is not alone in this regard, as cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry has also met with the team.
The Packers have a track record of success in drafting young receivers to complement their franchise quarterback, Jordan Love. Recent additions like Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks from last year’s draft have proven to be valuable assets in Green Bay’s offense.
While General Manager Brian Gutekunst might not prioritize selecting a receiver early in the draft, there’s a possibility of taking a chance on a player like Burton later on Day 2 or Day 3.
Burton brings with him a wealth of experience from playing at top-tier programs in the SEC, initially with the Georgia Bulldogs before transferring to Alabama. His time with the Crimson Tide showcased his talent, recording impressive stats of 79 receptions for 1,475 yards and 15 touchdowns over two seasons.
Standing at just over 6 feet tall and weighing 192 pounds, Burton possesses a solid physique and exceptional explosiveness, making him a credible deep threat on the field. Despite his strengths, he could improve in areas such as eluding tackles after the catch and refining his route running technique, particularly in sinking his hips effectively.
Bleacher Report has likened Burton’s playing style to that of Doug Baldwin, a former Seattle Seahawks star, suggesting he has the potential for a successful career akin to Baldwin’s. This comparison underscores the Green Bay Packers’ interest in the young receiver and their hopes for his future impact on the team.
