NFL Exec Reveals Sleeper Trade Suitor For Bengals’ Tee Higgins

Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

Tee Higgins requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals last month, and while there have been no concrete rumors about a potential deal, many are speculation about possible destinations for the star wide receiver.

A former NFL executive tells the NFL Analysis Network that he sees a sleeper team that could get in the mix in Higgins trade discussions.

“I still think there’s a shot the Bengals trade Tee Higgins before or during the NFL Draft,” the former exec said. “One team to watch out for that isn’t being talked about much is the Indianapolis Colts. They’re looking to add weapons for Anthony Richardson and they love Higgins.”

Higgins is peeved over the fact that the Bengals slapped a franchise tag on him earlier this offseason, preventing him from reaching free agency.

Cincinnati has until the middle of July to strike a long-term deal with Higgins, but if the two sides can’t reach an agreement by then, Higgins will either have to sign his franchise tender and play on a one-year deal or threaten to sit out 2024.

Or, of course, the Bengals can trade him.

Cincinnati is trying to contend for a Super Bowl, so moving Higgins would obviously be counterproductive. If Higgins is okay with playing out next season, Cincy may end up holding on to him.

But if a trade becomes the best course of action, the Colts would certainly represent an interesting landing spot.

Indianapolis already has a solid group of receivers that features Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs and Alec Pierce, but Higgins would unquestionably take Indy’s aerial attack to new heights.

Tee Higgins had a disappointing, injury-riddled campaign in 2023, but he logged back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2021 and 2022.
