New Update Reveals Chances The Bills Trade For DeAndre Hopkins

Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds signed a record deal with the Chicago Bears. Wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Isaiah McKenzie both left in free agency as well, signing with the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts, respectively.

The wide receiver position was one many people thought that the Bills would look to upgrade this offseason. With two players from the position gone, it is even more important now that they find some help.

A lot of pressure has been on Stefon Diggs to perform at a high level as the only consistent threat. Gabriel Davis has had some big games but is more of a boom-or-bust type of player. Finding another consistent player to rely on to move the chains would do this offense some good.

One player who was mentioned as a possible addition recently was DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals. Hopkins was made available earlier this season for trade as the Cardinals look to reshape their roster under new head coach Jonathan Gannon.

Hopkins would be an incredible addition to this offense, providing Josh Allen with another elite weapon to target in the passing game. However, it seems that reports of the Bills looking to make a trade with the Cardinals were premature. General manager Brandon Beane provided comments about the rumors swirling.

“What I would say is social media is social media,” Beane said. “Don’t take that too far.”

“Our name gets thrown in the hat on a lot of things that sometimes we’ve done one percent,” Beane continued. “One person made one call, and they’ve looped us in that we’re all over him and we’ve offered him a contract. It’s funny sometimes.”

If that wasn’t explicit enough, Tim Graham of The Athletic threw even more water on rumors. Unless something drastic changes, Hopkins will not be heading to Orchard Park this offseason.

Things could certainly change as the offseason moves along, but for now, it looks like the Bills are going to have to look elsewhere for help at wide receiver. Hopkins still has plenty left in the tank, but he doesn’t look to be on Beane’s radar currently.

The Buffalo Bills were relatively quiet during the free agency frenzy this year. Their salary cap situation didn’t enable them to be very aggressive, as they made a few signings to fill the depth on their roster. But, a few key players also departed Buffalo this offseason.
