Dwayne Haskins, Washington Football Team
Bold Prediction 1: Dwayne Haskins is able to keep up with Carson Wentz
It was a rough start for Dwayne Haskins in his rookie campaign. He had a lot of trouble adjusting to the speed and tempo of the NFL game. However, with that slow start came a strong finish. Something similar could occur during his Week 1 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles’ defense is very strong upfront and they have a quality corner in Darius Slay. However, once Haskins hits his grove, he will show his potential. Philadelphia’s linebackers are a bit unproven. Watch for Haskins to hit his receivers with intermediate throws down the middle to attack the opposition’s weaknesses.
Bold Prediction 2: Dwayne Haskins will target his running backs more than his receivers
Ron Rivera did an excellent job in Carolina grooming Christian McCaffrey and will look to bring that to the NFC East. It does not surprise me Washington will be starting JD McKissic in Week 1.
McKissic is known for his receiving ability out of the backfield. In fact, McKissic, Antonio Gibson, Peyton Barber, and Bryce Love are all good receivers out of the backfield. Look for Washington to try and exploit the Eagles’ linebackers by hitting their running backs out of the backfield.
Final Word: Dwayne Haskins has talent, and there is no reason the Washington Football Team should already be calling for a change at QB. Haskins was only a starter for one season at Ohio State. The offense was very quarterback-friendly.
Once Haskins caught on, he started to gain confidence. It will be interesting to see if that confidence carries over into this season after a strong finish in 2019.
