Ben Roethlisberger
The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the 2019 season with high hopes after failing to make the postseason in 2018. While Antonio Brown was no longer with the team, the duo of Ben Roethlisberger and JuJu Smith-Schuster was expected to become the next lethal connection in Pittsburgh’s storied history.
However, a season-ending elbow injury to Roethlisberger in Week 2 would throw a wrench into the Steelers’ plans of contending in the AFC.
Even if Roethlisberger isn’t one-hundred percent in 2020, he’s easily an upgrade over what Pittsburgh deployed at quarterback last season. Still, Roethlisberger’s health is a determining factor on how the Steelers will fare in the upcoming season.
Back in 2018, when Roethlisberger started in all 16 games — for just the fourth time in his career — he finished with 5,129 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. As of this moment, it’s hard to gauge what Roethlisberger is going to look like coming off of elbow surgery.
With that being said, if he can maintain his health in 2020, he’ll definitely put himself in the running for the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year Award.
