Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love got off to an impressive start this season, leading his team wins in two of their first three games and orchestrating a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
Love flashed considerable arm talent in the early stages of the year, throwing seven touchdowns and just one interception in the Packers’ 2-1 start.
However, Love’s last two starts have been an entirely different story.
The 24-year-old has thrown just one touchdown as opposed to five picks in his last two games, both resulting in Green Bay losses. First, the Packers lost 34-20 at home to the Detroit Lions in Week 4. Then, in Week 5, Love was brutal in a listless 17-13 defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Green Bay had a bye in Week 6, and now, heading into Week 7, the club has an opportunity to right the ship against a struggling Denver Broncos team.
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd thinks Week 7 is huge for Love, so huge that he feels Love’s job may be on the line.
Cowherd brings up multiple fair points.
First of all, he mentions that the Packers are coming off of a bye week, and with an offensive-minded coach like Matt LaFleur, the team should be very prepared.
Second, he states that Green Bay is playing the 1-5 Broncos who have been one of the NFL’s worst defensive teams this year.
Finally, he notes that Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields had a field day against Denver earlier in the season, and Bears fans had been ready to run Fields out of town before that game.
So, if Jordan Love can’t do significant damage versus the Broncos, Cowherd feels that it may be time for the Packers to start searching for a new signal-caller.
