Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is off to a superb start in his first NFL season.

After carrying the ball 10 times for 56 yards in the Falcons’ Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers, Robinson followed that up by posting 124 yards off of 19 attempts in this past Sunday’s victory over the Green Bay Packers. On top of that, Robinson has amassed 10 receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown through two games.

During Robinson’s performance against the Packers, a broadcaster likened the rookie to one of the best halfbacks in NFL history: Barry Sanders.

No pressure there.

That is some high praise for Robinson, whom the Falcons selected with the eighth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in the spring.

The 21-year-old had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Texas, finishing ninth in Heisman voting in 2022 after racking up 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground while averaging 6.1 yards per carry.

Bijan Robinson spent three years at Texas overall and flashed his talent right from the get-go, totaling 703 yards and four scores while registering 8.2 yards per attempt during his freshman season. The following year, he amassed 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns, recording 5.8 yards per rush.

The Falcons have been one of the NFL’s most pleasant surprises in the early stages of the 2023 season, jumping out to a 2-0 start. Atlanta is looking to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign when it went 10-6 and lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round.

Since then, the Falcons have failed to post a winning season. Atlanta went 7-10 last year.

After spending their first two weeks of 2023 at home, the Falcons will finally head on the road to take on the Detroit Lions next Sunday.
