3. Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to a 13-3 record this past season, which gave them the second seed in the NFC. Unfortunately for Green Bay, the team got obliterated by the San Francisco 49ers in the Conference Championship. However, Rodgers once again showed he can elevate an average roster.
The biggest concern for Green Bay this coming year might be offensive weapons, but the team shouldn’t overlook the chance to boost their defense. In 2021, Sherman could form a dynamic duo with Jaire Alexander.
Green Bay’s current cornerbacks include Alexander, Josh Jackson, and Kevin King. The franchise could also re-sign veteran free agent Tramon Williams. While that’s a solid defensive backfield, Sherman could elevate the group to another level.
Besides potentially losing Williams this offseason, Green Bay could also watch King walk away when his rookie contract ends next offseason. Jackson also hasn’t reached a point where he’s a reliable starter. Barring a drastic leap in development, he won’t be ready to start in 2021.
If Sherman wants another shot at the Super Bowl, he could join Rodgers, and the two future Hall of Famers could hunt for their second titles together.
I’m also banking on Alexander continuing his development and transforming into a Pro Bowl cornerback. Assuming Sherman’s game doesn’t fall off a cliff in the next year and a half, the Stanford product would give Green Bay one of the best cornerback pairings in the NFL.
