On Sunday, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots will bring an end to a trying and dismal season with a final clash against the New York Jets.
The Patriots’ struggles throughout this season have prompted speculation about the unthinkable possibility of parting ways with their legendary head coach, Bill Belichick.
According to a prominent NFL insider, the odds of team owner Robert Kraft opting to dismiss Bill Belichick are “extremely remote.”
Ian Rapoport, a respected reporter from the NFL Network, expressed his view, stating, “At some point, Robert Kraft might contemplate a change, but firing Bill Belichick? That appears to be highly improbable.”
Rapoport laid out other potential scenarios, including the idea of Belichick stepping down from his role as the team’s general manager while retaining his position as head coach.
He also suggested the prospect of a mutual separation, though he emphasized that in such a scenario, the Patriots would not receive any compensation for Belichick’s departure.
Currently, Bill Belichick is within striking distance of surpassing Don Shula’s record and becoming the NFL’s all-time winningest coach.
Many fans initially assumed that he would achieve this milestone in New England, but the team’s recent struggles have cast doubt on that possibility.
As it stands, Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, and the rest of the Patriots’ leadership face crucial decisions regarding the franchise’s future.
