Miami Dolphins: Offensive Line

The Miami Dolphins have been busy this offseason. It all began in NFL free agency when they went all out on defense. Miami made a big splash when they added Byron Jones on a five-year, $82.5 million deal. They continued with Kyle Van Noy, Emmanuel Ogbah, and of course Lawson from the Bills.

The busy offseason continued when the Dolphins drafted Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the draft. Tagovailoa will have weapons to work with such as Jordan Howard, DeVante Parker, and Mike Gesicki. Now, all he needs is a solid offensive line.

The offensive line was a big need heading into free agency. Miami made some moves to help but it was not enough to consider them a finished product. They overpaid for Ereck Flowers by giving him $30 million over three years. He will be plugged in at left guard. Miami signed center Ted Karras on a one-year deal and drafted Austin Jackson out of USC in the first round. They will join Robert Hunt on a very young offensive line.

The Dolphins could start two rookies in Jackson and Hunt on their offensive line. Flowers had a poor start to his career and is still a question mark while Karras has been a starter for just one year. This is not to say that the Dolphins line is doomed for the future because it is not. Miami has made it clear that they want to build the line and this is a young group with a high ceiling. For 2020, this will be a weakness because of their youth and inexperience.
