Fielding the best possible combination on the offensive line to block for Deshaun Watson is crucial to figure. So is the No. 1 receiver role with DeAndre Hopkins now a member of the Arizona Cardinals. There’s another spot to consider, though.
As put on display against the Kansas City Chiefs in their 51-31 loss in the Divisional Round, Houston needs to shore up their execution in pass coverage. The cornerback position will be vital for the Texans to resolve, particularly out on the boundary.
The Texans will need to figure which two of Bradley Roby, Gareon Conley, and Lonnie Johnson Jr. are best suited to start at boundary corner. There’s plenty of uncertainties among this group that Houston will hope training camp can help to sort through.
The top nickel corner role will likely go to Vernon Hargreaves but even he will have competition. It’s considered that rookie John Reid will be in a position to at least provide legitimate competition for Hargreaves.
