Denzel Perryman, Los Angeles Chargers

The impressive unit the Los Angeles Chargers have managed to build on its defense will lead the way in 2020. The addition of former Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray using the first round of the NFL Draft will help to provide an additional boost to the group.

The expectation is that Murray will have a substantial role to start his NFL career, reducing the need to keep Denzel Perryman. Despite the coronavrius pandemic making it difficult for rookies to get acclimated to the Chargers, has been preparing to handle defensive play call responsibilities in 2020.

There is financial incentive for the Chargers to waive Perryman if they can’t find a trade suitor for him. In fact, Los Angeles would save an estimated $6.55M in salary cap space by making this move. With an upgrade already on theroster, it would make plenty of sense to do so.
