NFL: One potential surprising cut from each team in the AFC West

Denver Broncos – Royce Freeman, Running Back

Royce Freeman is the candidate to be a surprise release for the Broncos this offseason. While he is just 24 years old with a lot of talent and potential, Freeman still may find himself on the outside looking in for a roster spot.

Last season, Freeman ended up carrying the football 132 times for 496 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught 43 passes for 256 yards and another score. Those numbers are nothing to laugh at in a backup role.

Unfortunately, the Broncos went out this offseason and made a huge splash in free agency by signing star running back Melvin Gordon. They also still have star running back Phillip Lindsay on the roster.

Freeman simply isn’t going to find playing time. A trade or release makes the most sense in this situation.
