Could the Kansas City Chiefs try to trade up for University of Georgia tight end Brock Bowers in the NFL Draft next week?

Obviously, the Chiefs don’t need a tight end right now. They have Travis Kelce, who is one of the best of all-time at his position.

However, Kelce is 34 years old. He has already hinted at retirement, and he appears to have a career in Hollywood lined up after his football playing days are over.

That means Kansas City may need to start searching for his replacement, and Tom Blair of NFL.com suggests that it should be Bowers.

Blair proposes that the Chiefs trade the 32nd overall pick, a second-rounder, a fourth-rounder and a 2025 first-round selection to the Chicago Bears in exchange for No. 9, which would give Kansas City the opportunity to select Bowers.

Meanwhile, the Bears would load up on some terrific draft capital to fill out the rest of their roster as they gear up for a potential playoff run next season.

Bowers is considered a generational prospect by some and is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he caught 56 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns.

The 21-year-old arrived at Georgia in 2021 and instantly made his presence known, snaring 56 balls for 882 yards and 13 scores during his freshman year. He followed that up by hauling in 63 receptions for 942 yards while reaching the end zone seven times the following season.

The Chiefs are in need of some more weapons for Patrick Mahomes. They did sign wide receiver Marquise Brown in free agency, but with Rashee Rice’s status for 2024 up in the air due to legal issues, Kansas City may want to double down on its aerial attack.

We’ll see if the Chiefs try and make a move for Brock Bowers next week.
