NFL: One second-year player to watch from each team in the AFC East

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Dolphins — Christian Wilkins

Before the Dolphins had a million picks in the early rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft, they had just one pick in the first two rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft. With that selection, which was the No. 13 pick in the first round, Miami took Christian Wilkins out of Clemson.

Given Clemson’s recent dominance in college football, there were heightened expectations for Wilkins coming out of Clemson. Nonetheless, Wilkins would show some potential in certain moments throughout the 2019 season.

The charismatic interior defender would conclude his rookie season with 56 combined tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss. For a team that finished with only 23 sacks in 2019 (worst in the NFL), the Dolphins are hoping Wilkins flashes more brilliance in his sophomore campaign.
