NFL: One second-year player to watch from each team in the AFC East

New England Patriots — Jarrett Stidham

Imagine having to be the quarterback that is tasked with replacing Tom Brady in New England. Regardless of what team you’re a fan of, all eyes will be on Jarrett Stidham, as he will likely get the first crack at replacing the greatest quarterback of all time.

Stidham, the Patriots’ fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, saw minimal time on the field due to backing up Brady. However, having a year to learn from a legendary signal-caller like No. 12 could prove to pay dividends for the Auburn product.

As a rookie, Stidham attempted just four passes, completing one of them to the Jets’ defense for a touchdown. Despite not seeing much work in his rookie season, Stidham will suddenly be given the responsibility of filling the big shoes left behind by Brady. If Stidham ends up panning out — like New England’s coaching staff and players believes he will — then the Patriots could keep the door cracked open on their dynasty.
