NFL: One second-year player to watch from each team in the AFC West

Los Angeles Chargers — Nasir Adderley

The Los Angeles Chargers are entering a new era in their franchise’s history after moving on from Philip Rivers. Regardless of whether Tyrod Taylor or rookie Justin Herbert starts next season, the Chargers made a concerted effort to improve the defense this offseason. In doing so, Los Angeles realizes they have to focus on slowing down the Chiefs and the other offenses in the AFC West.

Altogether, Los Angeles added veterans Chris Harris Jr. and Linval Joseph. Then, they would proceed to trade back into the first round to select Kenneth Murray in the 2020 NFL Draft, getting a linebacker that could anchor the middle of the defense.

On the other hand, someone like Nasir Adderley — Chargers’ second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft — could have a chance to make a name for himself next season. Adderley would miss 12 games in his rookie campaign, with Anthony Lynn calling 2019 a ‘redshirt year’ for the Delaware product. Following an injury-riddled rookie season, Adderley could form a dynamic safety duo with All-Pro Derwin James.
