NFL: One second-year player to watch from each team in the AFC West

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs — Mecole Hardman

Speaking of the Chiefs, for the second consecutive season with Patrick Mahomes under center, they fielded one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL in 2019. Unlike 2018 though, Kansas City’s offense was able to be the driving force to them winning the Super Bowl this past season.

There’s no doubt that Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are the best offensive duo in the AFC West, along with being one of the best duos in the entire league. At the same time, Mecole Hardman could see more opportunities to shine in 2020 despite the Chiefs bringing back Sammy Watkins on a restructured deal next season.

Similar to Hill, Hardman’s game is centered around his uncanny speed and his ability to outpace defenders. In his rookie campaign, Hardman hauled in 26 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns. His 146.6 quarterback rating when targeted last season led all wide receivers in the NFL. Provided that, Andy Reid will likely be eager to get the ball to No. 17 more in 2020.
