San Francisco 49ers
Trade Package: San Francisco 49ers trade a conditional pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for John Ross.
The San Francisco 49ers have one of the most creative offenses in the NFL. Although John Ross never lived up to the expectations in Cincinnati, the 49ers could find very creative ways to use him. The Bengals’ receiving core is full of talent and Ross is just going to get lost in the mix with the Bengals. It is highly unlikely he will contribute much to an already very full group of receivers.
The Bengals would be smart to make this trade. They are in a good place to rebuild and all their playmakers on offense are set. They have a promising rookie QB coming off a historical Heisman campaign. However, keeping Ross on the roster may impede the progress of other young wide receivers like Tee Higgins or Auden Tate.
Getting a conditional pick that could range from a third-round to a fifth-round pick would be a smart investment for the Bengals. If Ross explodes for a Pro-Bowl year, the Bengals get a third. If he plays at the same level he has been, it is still a fifth-round pick.
Ross does have incredible athletic ability and still has a lot of potential in the NFL. Prior to last season’s injury, it seemed as though Ross was turning a corner. The 49ers are very good at finding creative ways to get the ball into their playmakers hands. If he could stay healthy, Ross on the 49ers could be a perfect match.
