What to Think of the Jamal Adams Trade
It takes great timing in order to build a Super Bowl-winning roster. In the case of the deals involving Jalen Ramsey, Khalil Mack, and Laremy Tunsil, their new respective teams simply were not in a position to win it all. But are the Seattle Seahawks ready even with Jamal Adams?
It’s not a requirement, but winning the NFC West makes things much easier for the Seahawks’ potential pursuit of a Super Bowl victory. Adams will help Seattle matchup better with the San Francisco 49ers in the run game and against George Kittle. Remember, had the Seahawks won in Week 17 they would have been division champions.
The situation feels relatively similar to when the Kansas City Chiefs had a struggling defense but made a play for Tyrann Mathieu, experiencing a considerable improvement. The do-it-all ability of Adams should provide one of the lesser units with a needed boost in critical areas.
It remains to be seen how the 2020 season will play out with Adams, but there is a genuine outlook it succeeds in the short-term. He is under contract through 2021 on his rookie deal as long as he is willing to play on it all the way through.
The long-term impact of this deal could be quite troublesome for the Seahawks. Jamal Adams will seek top dollar for his next contract and has substantial leverage considering the compensation Seattle gave up. Russell Wilson is at the height of his game and all that matters is that they’re capitalizing on it.
