The Buffalo Bills are looking like one of the best teams in the NFL on paper as we head toward training camp. They are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and have arguably the deepest roster in the league with very few holes.
The Bills have Super Bowl aspirations and to make a deep run in the playoffs, you need depth at every position. Their star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, is hoping that they add some to the cornerback position as he is campaigning for the team to sign veteran Joe Haden.
Haden has spent the last five NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected No. 7 overall in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Browns before heading to their AFC North rivals.
After spending his entire career in that division, he could now be calling the AFC East home if Diggs has his way. Diggs commented on a video that Haden shared on his Instagram, insinuating that he would like his team to bring the veteran cornerback on board.
This actually isn’t the first time that Haden has been connected to the Bills. Earlier in the offseason, two other Bills made it known that they would love the Florida product to join the team. Starting safety Jordan Poyer was one of the players and the other was Von Miller, who signed a monster six-year, $120 million deal as a free agent to leave the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
Miller is looking to help get the Bills over the hump for a Lombardi Trophy and Haden would be a solid addition to help them achieve that goal. The three-time Pro Bowler is not the shutdown corner that he once was, but would still provide solid insurance and depth on the perimeter of the defense.
Buffalo’s cornerback depth chart could use a little more experience. Tre’Davious White is working his way back from a torn ACL suffered last season and the team lost Levi Wallace to the Steelers. Joe Haden could help replace him in Buffalo along with first-round pick Kaiir Elam, Taron Johnson, Dane Jackson and sixth-round pick Christian Benford.
