The Green Bay Packers have garnered a lot of attention this offseason. Their situation with Aaron Rodgers was the talk of the football world until the two sides came to an agreement on an extension that will likely keep him in Green Bay through the end of his career.

Unfortunately, they were not as successful in working things out with star wide receiver, Davante Adams. Adams had the franchise tag placed on him this offseason, but he let it be known that he would not play out the season on the tag. When an extension was unable to be worked out, the Packers traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first and second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the team’s No. 2 receiver last season, also departed in free agency, signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Given what their depth chart at wide receiver now looks like, as Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers sit atop of it, many people are assuming the Packers will target a wide receiver early and often in the draft.

It would be shocking if the Packers didn’t add at least one, if not two, wide receivers with their early picks. But, one NFL scout revealed that wide receivers aren’t the only players that the Packers are keeping their eyes on. Devonte Wyatt, a defensive tackle out of Georgia, is catching their eye as well.

“Everyone is talking about Green Bay going all-out for wide receivers in the first round. But, they are very intrigued by a prospect at another position. Keep an eye on Georgia defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt.”

Wyatt is a far more explosive athlete than his collegiate teammate, Jordan Davis, who is also projected to go in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Wyatt dominated the Senior Bowl, which was a continuation of his 2021 season in which he registered a pass-rushing grade of 84.

Some things are working against him that he cannot control, such as his length, but he makes up for that with his versatility. He can get the job done against the run and rushing the passer, providing an impact from the interior of the defensive line very few in this class are capable of.

Wyatt could be a long-term piece in the middle of the Packers’ defense for years to come if they opt to use one of their first-round picks on the former Bulldog.
