The Green Bay Packers will be taking on the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day, and for the first time in what seems like forever, the Packers will not be the favorites over their NFC North division rivals.

Typically, the Lions have been the Packers’ personal punching bag for years, but in 2023, Detroit is one of the best teams in football and Green Bay is, well, not.

However, an NFL scout tells the NFL Analysis Network that he thinks the Packers could very well surprise the Lions on Thursday.

“They’re extremely banged up, but I think they might just pull off an upset,” the scout said of the Packers. “Jordan Love is finding his way and the team is fired up. I’m calling a big-time upset on Thanksgiving Day with the Packers beating the Lions.”

Green Bay is coming off of an impressive Week 11 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in which Love went 27-for-40 with 322 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Most importantly, he led the Packers on a game-winning drive by throwing the go-ahead touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs late in the fourth quarter.

It marked what may very well have been Love’s best performance of the season, as the youngster had been struggling mightily ever since a pretty impressive start over the first three weeks.

On the season overall, Love has thrown for 2,331 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 59.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 83.8.

The jury is still largely out on Love, who is in his first year as the Packers’ full-time starter under center. However, he certainly did himself a huge favor this past Sunday.

If Love can put together a shocking win over the Lions on Thanksgiving, it would go a long way in giving Green Bay some solace to provide him with another opportunity to prove himself in 2024.

The Packers are just 4-6 on the season and lost Detroit by a score of 34-20 at home back on Sept. 28. They will get an opportunity to exact some revenge this week.

Meanwhile, the Lions are 8-2 and currently own the second-best record in the NFL.
