NFL Scout Reveals Two Second-Round Draft Options For Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs shocked the football world when they agreed to trade star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks. Hill was seeking a new contract and Kansas City was unable to compensate him, so they made the most of it and traded him.

Their offense will look a lot different this upcoming season without Hill, but as long as Patrick Mahomes is under center, they should remain one of the better units in the NFL. The Chiefs were able to sign some solid replacements in the offseason, as they agreed to free-agent deals with JuJu Smith Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Neither player is on the level of Hill but will provide the offense with a more balanced attack with more players for Mahomes to get the ball to. Travis Kelce will likely be the team’s No. 1 target now in the passing game as a result.

The one thing that the trade does bring Kansas City now is a ton of flexibility. They have some more cap space to address other needs on the roster and are loaded with draft capital. They now have 12 selections in the draft, eight of which are going to be in the first four rounds.

Three of those selections are from Miami, as they received first, second and fourth-round picks in this year’s draft for Hill. Now, it is time for the Chiefs to make the most of the opportunity that has been presented to them.

One NFL scout that talked to NFL Analysis Network revealed two players that the Chiefs could have their eyes on in the second round. Each would fill a need, as they are keeping their eyes on a wide receiver and secondary help.

“Kansas City has so many routes they could go in the second round. I’d keep an eye on Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker or Western Michigan wideout Skyy Moore. Both guys would be perfect fits for the Chiefs.”

Jaquan Brisker could turn into a long-term replacement for Tyrann Mathieu, who remains a free agent and doesn’t look like he will be coming back to the team. Brisker finished the 2021 season with a coverage grade of 89.5 and would provide some insurance on the back end.

Skyy Moore may require a trade-up to land, as there is an outside chance he goes in the first round of the draft. Some of the shiftiness and wiggle that the offense would be missing with Hill’s departure could be replaced by Moore, who led the FBS with 26 missed tackles. Not as electric as Hill, but he would bring some big-play ability to the table with his ability to make defenders miss.

Expect the Chiefs to navigate the board aggressively with all of the draft capital that they have. Wide receiver and the secondary are their two biggest holes right now, but they could even flip some of those selections for established talent, such as cornerback James Bradberry of the New York Giants.
