NFL Scout Reveals Why Cowboys Should Trade For Jalen Ramsey

The Dallas Cowboys are right on the cusp of being true contenders in the NFC. They have a lot of great pieces in place on their roster, but they need that little extra oomph to push them over the edge.

In the postseason games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, we saw both ends of the spectrum. Against Tampa Bay, the Cowboys were dominant in every fashion of the game, winning 31-14. Against the 49ers, their offense fell flat, which put a ton of pressure on the defense to step up. The defense did its best, but the team fell short 19-12.

Addressing some of the concerns offensively will be important this season. Dak Prescott has to get the turnovers under control and adding another wide receiver wouldn’t hurt. With Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz hitting free agency, and Ezekiel Elliott possibly joining them, the skill positions could be in store for a revamping.

In general, the offense has been in good hands. Dan Quinn deserves a lot of credit for the work he has done with the defense, turning things around greatly on that side of the ball. For them to continue ascending, they could use a little more help in the secondary.

Trevon Diggs is an All-Pro and Daron Bland was solid along with him, but the depth behind them is shaky. When Jourdan Lewis went down with an injury, the team’s pass defense faltered. Looking to ensure that doesn’t happen again, an NFL scout that spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes the Cowboys should pursue cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams.

“The Cowboys are one piece away from being an elite defense. Jalen Ramsey is that guy that they need. If they are able to pull off a deal with L.A., Dallas will see their Super Bowl odds double.”

Pairing Ramsey with Diggs would give the Cowboys arguably the best defensive backfield in the NFL. Both are capable of being shutdown corners, but knowing you have someone that talented opposite of you makes your job that much easier.

Playing behind the strong pass rush that Dallas possesses, Ramsey should be able to bounce back after a shaky 2022. While he had career numbers in numerous counting stats, the multi-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler struggled at times in coverage.

A change of scenery and being viewed as the missing piece for a team hoping to contend could be exactly what Ramsey needs to get things back on track. Never shy about making a splash, Jerry Jones would certainly explore adding a star of Ramsey’s caliber to the roster.
